Hi! I’m Stefanie Borg. With over 20 years of experience teaching young learners in NYC public schools, Gifted & Talented programs, private tutoring, and leading literacy classes in Westchester, I created Leap into Literacy to help children fall in love with books, letters, and learning—through joyful, hands-on play.
I’m a lifelong educator passionate about helping young children find joy in learning. Over the past two decades, I’ve supported hundreds of students on their path to literacy using hands-on techniques, creative activity centers, and developmentally appropriate instruction.
Today, I lead the program personally and also train others to bring Leap into Literacy into more schools and communities.

🎨 Literacy Centers – Independent, hands-on activities to build phonemic awareness and vocabulary
📚 Read-Alouds – Themed storytime sessions with guided questions
🎶 Songs & Shared Reading – Group poems and music to build rhythm and pattern recognition
✍️ Handwriting Practice – Age-appropriate letter-writing activities
📖 Guided Reading – Small group sessions using Level A books to introduce early decoding skills

Every child develops at their own pace. At Leap into Literacy, we meet students where they are and help them grow from there—without pressure. Our goal is to spark excitement about books, letters, and language through engaging, developmentally appropriate experiences.
Some children begin reading simple words by the end of the program; others gain confidence, exposure, and readiness for kindergarten and beyond. All walk away with a love of learning.
